Fish farm

The fish farm is a salted environment where the influx of fresh and salted water is artificially regulated by what are commonly known as “Locks”. The fish valley are manmade an extended of type of fish raising where they grow naturally in the space of three or four years. The word “Valle” is derived from the Latin word “Vallum” the banks built to limited these areas.

Beside the beauty of the countryside, fish farming is important for the typical architecture:
“Cason di Valle” with a big round chimney, home of the owner and shelter for the watchmen, The local “cassonetto” shelter for tools and “cavana” a covered place where the boats are moored.
There are 24 fish farms in the Delta that occupy 3000 hectares in Rosolina, 3500 in Porto Viro e 1650 a Porto Tolle.
