The nature of the Delta: mutant landscapes and endless atmospheres. The Delta is an extraordinary natural stage where the waters of the great river move majestically, among the “golene”, until the meeting with the Adriatic through a labyrinth of...
The fossil sand dunes are eolic origin: formed by the action of wind in contact with the earth. The high shape and extension of the dunes depend on the direction the winds, the supply of sand and the amount of vegetation.
Specially the vegetation, has the aim of trapping sediments and preventing the progress of the dunes into the land.
The dunes are bodies of eolic origin that undergo slow movements formed by the direction of the wind and contact with nature. Many of these recognizable morphologies of the “deltizio” territory are considered fossils, and phenomena already concluded in the past. They constitute irreplaceable historical snapshots for the understanding of the evolution of the Delta. The fossil dunes are the antique border between land and sea, before the Po, with the transport of debris to the mouth, formed the Delta as it is today.
